CI written exam practice questions · a card
True or false: passing a self-written practice bank alone establishes readiness for the performance examination.
False — a self-written question bank tests recall, while FFI's preparation guidance points to a mentor and at least one full practice test.
Answer: false. A practice bank tests what you can recall; it cannot establish that you can cast and teach to the performance standard. Passing a bank you wrote yourself is the weakest version of that evidence, because the questions and the answers come from the same person.
FFI’s preparation guidance points elsewhere. It recommends working with a mentor, and it recommends at least one full practice test — more if possible — given, ideally, by someone other than your main mentor. The FAQ goes further: successful completion of a practice test with a validated examiner is the clearest indication of readiness.
A question bank still has a use. It exposes gaps in terminology and definition, and it is easy to repeat. Keep it in that role: a revision tool that tells you what to look up next, not a certificate of readiness. The performance exam is a casting and teaching test, and only a person watching you cast and teach can tell you whether you are ready.
