CI written exam practice questions · a card
Which list matches the subjects explicitly named on the official written-exam page?
The official CI exam page names casting mechanics, fly tackle, knots and teaching.
- A. Casting mechanics only
- B. Entomology and navigation only
- C. Teaching only
- D. Casting mechanics, fly tackle, knots and teaching
Answer: D. The page names four subjects: casting mechanics, fly tackle, knots and teaching.
That is the published list, word for word. Each of the other options either narrows it to one of those subjects or leaves the list entirely. “Casting mechanics only” and “teaching only” each keep one heading and drop three; entomology and navigation are not named on the page at all.
The question says “explicitly named”, so answer from that page rather than from a remembered syllabus or a course outline. The list is also a study map: four headings to audit your preparation against. A candidate who can talk fluently about loop control but not about the difference between a blood knot and a surgeon’s join has just found a gap.
Cover all four rather than picking a favourite; the page gives no basis for treating any one of them as optional. The CI Study Guide is organised to support that breadth.
